NYC Summer Camp for Grown-Ups

June 10-13, 2027

The Curious Creatives Photography Camp

What if summer camp didn’t have to end when we grew up?

Join us for a playful three-day photography adventure exploring New York City. Together we’ll wander through a few corners of the city, photograph what catches our attention, and enjoy the simple process of seeing and creating.

Think summer camp — but for grown-ups.

Instructor: Mindy Véissid

What You'll Learn

Throughout the weekend, Mindy will guide you in slowing down and seeing more intentionally. Along the way you’ll explore:

• How to notice compelling moments and compositions
• Ways to work with light, color, and movement in everyday scenes
• Techniques for photographing people and spontaneous moments
• How to approach photography with curiosity and creativity

The emphasis is on rediscovering how we used to see when we were kids — with curiosity, openness, and a sense of wonder.

Mindy - you always make your classes so enjoyable! I learned so much in the summer camp but you also made everyone feel so comfortable and made it fun. The best combo.

Who Can Join?

Whether you're brand new to photography or you've been at it for years, this camp is for anyone who wants to slow down, see differently, and have fun making images. All cameras welcome - including your phone. Non-photographers welcome too.

Camp Itinerary:

Here’s a look at our camp adventure.

June 10 — Camp Kickoff Dinner

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Participants will gather for a relaxed dinner where we’ll get to know each other before the weekend begins.

June 11 — Castles & Gardens: The Cloisters + Fort Tryon Park

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

We’ll begin camp at The Cloisters, a castle-like museum and gardens that feels like stepping into Europe without ever leaving NYC. With cameras in hand, we’ll photograph the stone archways, gardens, textures, views of the Hudson River, and quiet corners of Fort Tryon Park.

June 12 — Coney Island

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Saturday is all about the playful energy of Coney Island. We’ll photograph the boardwalk, beach, rides, signs, colors, people, and summer atmosphere that make this place so iconic. And because this is summer camp after all, we may even ride the Wonder Wheel together.

June 13 — Cold Spring & The Cornish Estate Ruins

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

For our final adventure, we’ll head to Cold Spring, New York and explore the Cornish Estate Trail — home to dramatic ruins hidden among the trees. It feels mysterious, cinematic, and completely different from the city. We’ll spend the day photographing nature, textures, light, details, and the haunting beauty of the abandoned estate before wrapping up camp together with a relaxed farewell lunch.
