Monthly Charity Donations - June's Funds will go to The Deepwater Project
Every month AoIP donates 10% of our income from our website sales to a charity/fundraiser that is in immediate need, or is a choice from our AoIP community.
June's donation will go to The Deep Water Project. Our student, Savannah Woods, had proposed this for consideration. Savannah states 'I am on the board and have been involved with the organization since I was 18, and with the wilderness program that it serves since I was 14! DEEP used to provide scholarship funds to a number of different wilderness programs, but now solely focuses on Northwaters and Langksib, the basecamps for which are in Temagami, Ontario. The organization essentially seeks to empower young people through adventure, community, and self-reflection all held within the container of a canoe trip.
It’s an organization that focuses on both the inner and outer journey of each participant, which might set it apart from other similar wilderness programs. Of course, not everyone has the financial means to participate in a program such as this, but DEEP works to meet those needs by providing funds for kids who would not otherwise be able to attend. I certainly believe that, especially in the world we are living in now, adolescents need this kind of experience to build resilience, connections, etc.'
