Photography Skillcation in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
October 17 - October 21, 2026 - 5 rooms left
Five days of photography, creativity, and discovery in one of Mexico’s most inspiring cities.
Experience the color, beauty, and creative spirit of San Miguel de Allende
San Miguel de Allende is a place that invites you to slow down and look more closely.
Its colorful streets, beautiful architecture, lively markets, hidden courtyards and warm light make it an inspiring place to explore with a camera or smartphone.
About This Skillcation
Join us for a creative photography skillcation workshop in San Miguel de Allende, a city filled with color, texture, historic architecture, lively streets, and unexpected moments.
Throughout our time together, we’ll explore photography beyond camera settings. We’ll work with composition, intuition, perspective, point of view, and visual storytelling. We’ll consider how a photograph—or a series of photographs—can tell a story, suggest a feeling, or read almost like a poem.
Some of our learning will happen while we photograph throughout the city. We’ll also gather in the courtyard at Casa de la Cuesta for relaxed discussions, creative exercises, handouts, and time to look more deeply at the images we are creating.
There will be a thoughtful balance of guided photography, conversation, cultural experiences, and free time to wander, shop, rest, or follow whatever catches your eye.
What Makes This Skillcation Different?
This is more than a photography tour.
It is a creative workshop designed to help you become more thoughtful and intentional about the photographs you make.
Instead of rushing from one landmark to the next, we’ll slow down and explore questions such as:
What draws your attention and why?
How does your point of view change the meaning of an image?
How can perspective, composition, and light create a feeling?
How can a photograph tell a story without explaining everything?
Photography guidance will be woven throughout each day, both while we explore San Miguel and during our courtyard discussions. You’ll receive handouts, creative prompts, individual guidance, and opportunities to share and discuss your work in a relaxed and supportive setting.
You’ll still have time to experience San Miguel, enjoy the food, explore its markets and shops, and simply be present in the city.
This will not be a technical, classroom-heavy workshop. The discussions and exercises are designed to deepen your experience of being in San Miguel and help you create photographs that feel more personal to you.
By the end of the skillcation, you’ll leave with stronger photographs, fresh creative ideas, a deeper understanding of your own way of seeing, and tools you can continue using long after the trip ends.

I just returned from San Miguel de Allende and had the best experience. I did not know anyone going in and doubted my photography skills. I left with a group of incredible friends and more confidence in my skills as a photographer. Mindy provides very actionable tips and tricks to meet every photographer where they are. San Miguel is one of the most vibrant places I have been to, and the people are so kind and warm. Sign up if this is your bucket list trip, as it was mine. The B+B, food, location, company, and everything was amazing.

I recently returned from a soul-soothing 5-day adventure with Mindy and the Art of Intuitive Photography. The opportunity to photograph in San Miguel de Allende, an enchanting small town in the Mexican mountains with cobblestone streets, colorful marketplaces and breathtaking panoramic views is not to be missed. The local people are welcoming the food authentic and delicious. I would love to return to this charming Mexican town and do it again. Thank you, Mindy for an incredible travel photography experience.

Your Instructor: Mindy Véissid
Mindy Véissid is an award-winning international fine art photographer, educator, author, and founder of Art of Intuitive Photography, a boutique photography school based in New York City.
She began teaching Art of Intuitive Photography classes and workshops in 2010. Her approach combines practical photography instruction with curiosity, intuition, and personal expression.
Rather than teaching students to create photographs that all look the same, Mindy helps each person become more confident with their camera, trust what catches their attention, and develop their own way of seeing.
Her approach to photography centers on intuition, vulnerability, and trust. Her work often tells a story or reads like a poem, inviting the viewer to look more deeply and connect with what lies beneath the surface.
Her photographs have been exhibited in the United States and Europe and published in magazines and online publications. She has led photography classes, workshops, retreats, and small-group travel experiences in New York City and around the world.
