Ancient ruins sit beside modern architecture. Quiet leafy neighborhoods give way to crowded markets, historic plazas, bold murals, street food, music, and everyday moments unfolding in every direction.
This is a city that invites you to look beyond the obvious and discover the stories hidden within its contrasts.
About This Tour
Over 4 nights, we’ll explore some of the city’s most fascinating neighborhoods, historic sites, markets, architecture, gardens, and cultural landmarks.
Our time together will include visits to Coyoacán, the Frida Kahlo Museum, Xochimilco, Mexico City’s historic center, Teotihuacán, and the Basilica of Guadalupe.
Photography guidance will be woven throughout the experience. We’ll work with composition, perspective, color, light, visual storytelling, and how to create stronger photographs in busy urban environments.
There will also be time to enjoy the food, explore independently, rest, and take in the city without feeling rushed.
What Makes This Experience Different?
This is more than a sightseeing tour.
We won’t simply move from one attraction to the next, take a quick photograph, and continue on.
Instead, you’ll be encouraged to slow down, notice what draws your attention, and think more intentionally about how you photograph a place.
You’ll receive individual guidance throughout the trip, along with opportunities to think more deeply about the images you are making.
The goal is not to return home with hundreds of photographs. It is to create a smaller number of stronger, more meaningful images, and become more confident in your own way of seeing.

Where We’ll Stay
Participants will arrange their own accommodations in the Condesa neighborhood.
Condesa is known for its tree-lined streets, Art Deco architecture, parks, cafés, restaurants, and relaxed neighborhood atmosphere. It provides a comfortable base while giving us easy access to the places we’ll be exploring.
We recommend staying at one of the following:
A small, welcoming guesthouse located in the heart of Condesa.
Apartment-style accommodations near Parque México.
A modern hotel with a central location in Condesa.
You are welcome to choose another hotel nearby. Before booking, please contact us so we can confirm that the location will work with the group’s daily transportation.
Hotel accommodations are not included in the trip price.
Who Can Join?
This experience is open to photographers of all levels, including complete beginners.
You may participate with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, compact camera, or smartphone.
Non-photographers are also welcome.

Our itinerary includes a combination of private guided excursions, photography instruction, cultural experiences, and time to explore.
The schedule may shift slightly depending on weather, local conditions, availability, and the rhythm of the group.
October 21st: Welcome to Mexico City! After checking into our accommodations in the beautiful Condesa neighborhood, you'll have free time to wander this picturesque district with its Art Deco architecture, tree lined avenues, and vibrant street life. That evening, we’ll gather for an informal welcome drink or dinner in Condesa.
October 22nd: Private tour of Coyoacan - Frida Kahlo and Xochimilco

Teotihuacán includes broad open spaces, uneven surfaces, limited shade, and extended periods of walking and standing.

Combine Both Mexico Experiences - Begin in San Miguel de Allende
Start with our creative photography skillcation in San Miguel de Allende, October 17–21, and continue with us to Mexico City through October 25.
Book both experiences for $3,600—a savings of $150.
Mindy will travel by private car from San Miguel to Mexico City on October 21. Participants joining both experiences can share the ride.

Mindy is an innovative, award-winning international fine art photographer, founder of Art of Intuitive Photography, a boutique photography school in NYC, and an educator.
Her approach to photography centers on intuition, vulnerability, and trust. Her work often tells a story or reads like a poem, inviting the viewer to look more deeply and connect with what lies beneath the surface. Mindy’s photographs have been exhibited in the United States and Europe and published in magazines and online publications.
Mindy started teaching her Art of Intuitive Photography classes and workshops in 2010. In her classes she helps her students trust their intuition and creativity providing a fun and experiential approach to photography.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which airport should I fly into?
You should fly into Mexico City International Airport, also known as Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX).
Mexico City currently has more than one airport, so please make sure your flight arrives at MEX before booking.
Mindy will travel by private car from San Miguel to Mexico City on October 21. Participants joining both experiences may share the ride, with the cost divided among those traveling together.
Do I need a visa to travel to Mexico?
U.S. citizens traveling to Mexico for tourism do not need a visa for stays of up to 180 days, but they must travel with a valid passport.
Requirements vary by nationality, so participants who are not U.S. citizens should confirm the current entry requirements with the nearest Mexican consulate before booking their travel. All travelers are responsible for making sure they have the required passport, visa, and entry documents for Mexico.
When should I arrive?
Please plan to arrive on Wednesday, October 21, in time for our welcome gathering.
The exact meeting time will be provided after participants’ travel arrangements have been confirmed.
You are welcome to arrive earlier. Any additional hotel nights must be booked separately.
When should I depart?
The experience concludes on Sunday, October 25.
Please share your flight details with us before the trip so transportation can be coordinated.
Is the hotel included?
No.
Participants will reserve and pay for their own accommodations in Condesa.
We provide several recommended options at different price points. You may also choose another nearby hotel after confirming the location with us.
Why isn’t the hotel included?
Keeping the hotel separate gives participants greater flexibility when choosing their preferred room type, level of accommodation, and budget.
It also allows those joining with a friend or partner to share a room, while solo travelers may choose the private accommodation that works best for them.
Do I need an expensive camera?
No.
You may participate with a DSLR, mirrorless camera, compact camera, or smartphone.
The best camera for this experience is the one you enjoy carrying and using.
Are smartphones welcome?
Absolutely.
Smartphone photographers will receive the same creative guidance and individual attention as participants using traditional cameras.
Can beginners join?
Yes.
The experience is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced photographers.
Instruction is personalized, so you can work at your own level.
Can non-photographers join?
Yes.
Non-photographers are welcome to enjoy the cultural experiences, history, food, neighborhoods, and excursions.
Please keep in mind that photography instruction and creative guidance will be woven throughout each day.
I’m traveling alone. Will I feel comfortable?
Many of our travelers join without knowing anyone beforehand.
The small-group setting makes it easy to get to know one another while still allowing everyone personal time and space. Solo travelers are very welcome.
Are meals included?
Meals are not included.
This gives participants flexibility to select what and where they would like to eat.
Our daily schedule will include time for meal breaks, and our local guides can offer recommendations.
How physically demanding is the experience?
The activity level is easy to moderate.
There will be daily walking through neighborhoods, historic areas, markets, and archaeological sites. Some surfaces may be uneven, crowded, or exposed to the sun.
Please contact us before registering if you have mobility concerns.
Is travel insurance required?
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance.
Your policy should cover trip cancellation, interruption, medical expenses, emergency evacuation, delayed or lost luggage, and other unexpected circumstances.
We have used Allianz Travel in the past, but you are welcome to choose any provider that meets your needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
An $800 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your place.
The remaining balance is due by September 15, 2026. If payment is not received by that date, we reserve the right to release your place and retain your deposit.
If you cancel after the final balance has been paid, payments are nonrefundable. You may transfer your place to another eligible participant with our approval.
If there is a waiting list, we will make a reasonable effort to fill your place, but we cannot guarantee that a replacement will be found.
If Art of Intuitive Photography cancels the experience, payments made directly to Art of Intuitive Photography will be refunded.
In the event of severe weather, natural disaster, pandemic, border closure, political disruption, or another circumstance beyond our control, we reserve the right to modify, postpone, or reschedule the experience as necessary.
Can I join both San Miguel and Mexico City?
Yes.
The San Miguel de Allende skillcation runs from October 17–21, immediately before the Mexico City experience.
Participants joining both will travel together by private transportation from San Miguel to Mexico City on October 21.
